EVERYONE DESERVES
TO PLAY BASEBALL!

Our Story – Why the Miracle League of Henry County Began
Told by our President and Founder, Cindy Brooks
The Miracle League of Henry County didn’t start with a plan.
It started with a moment I will never forget.
Our daughter Hannah has three younger brothers, Evan, Jordan, and Tyler. Like so many boys in our community, they grew up playing baseball. Our oldest played coach’s pitch, and the younger two were in T-ball. At home, Hannah was right there with them. She would hit off the tee, throw the ball, and her brothers would push her wheelchair around the bases. To them, she wasn’t different—she was just part of the game.
One evening, we took her to watch her younger brothers play T-ball. As we sat there, Hannah kept pointing out to the field. At first, I didn’t understand what she was trying to tell me. And then it hit me…
She didn’t want to just watch.
She wanted to play.
I gently told her, “Oh honey… you can’t go out there. That’s for your brothers.”
She didn’t understand why.
And in that moment, her heart broke. She crossed her arms, sat back in her chair, and I could see the sadness all over her face.
And mine broke right along with hers.
Because the truth was… there was nothing for her.
No place where she belonged on that field.
So I started searching.
I connected with another mom who had started a league for her son, and she pointed me to the Miracle League in Conyers, Georgia. I reached out, hoping to give Hannah a chance to play, but it would cost $500 for us to participate.
I prayed about it. For a year.
And then one day, I felt it clearly placed on my heart:
“You can do this.”
So I did.
I spoke at our local Lions Club, and they generously gave half of what we needed. They then connected us with the Optimist Club, who covered the rest. And just like that, a dream that once felt impossible began to take shape.
That was 18 years ago.
Today, The Miracle League of Henry County has grown from fewer than 40 players to over 140 players and 12 teams. What started as a way for one little girl to play baseball has become a place where so many individuals can experience joy, friendship, and belonging.
And through it all… Hannah is still at the center of it.
She was born with a very rare blood disorder and cerebral palsy. Thirty-three years ago, we were told she would not live through the weekend. But she is still here.
She has fought every single day of her life.
We have traveled, participated in medical studies, spoken with doctors from around the world, and even gone to court to be able to care for her at home the way she needs. Her journey has not been easy, but her strength, her joy, and her spirit continue to inspire everything we do.
The Miracle League is because of her.
And it is for every child, teen, and adult who deserves a chance to step onto that field and feel like they belong.
This is more than baseball.
This is love, perseverance, and a community coming together to say:
You are seen. You matter. And this field is for you.
